Introducing the Mesh Network Association

Meet the non-profit behind Mesh: our mission, governance, and how to get involved.

Mesh is more than a project — it's a network maintained by a community and governed by a non-profit association. Here's who we are and what we stand for.

Who We Are

The Mesh Network Association (MNA) is a French non-profit association governed by the law of 1 July 1901. It was founded to develop, operate, and sustain the Mesh peer-to-peer messaging network.

Our registered office is located at 1637 route de Chanes, 01360 Beligneux, France.

Our Mission

Under its bylaws, the association's purpose is to:

  1. Develop and sustain a decentralized peer-to-peer network for secure communication
  2. Maintain relay servers and routing protocols
  3. Guarantee the integrity, confidentiality and availability of exchanges through cryptographic solutions
  4. Promote end-to-end encrypted messaging among the public and organizations
  5. Federate a community of users and contributors around the project

Governance

The association is run by two officers, elected by the General Assembly for an unlimited term and re-eligible:

  • Marc Moreau — President
  • Faiyza Khiat — Treasurer

Membership

The association is composed of three kinds of members:

  • Founding members — The original members who established the association
  • Active members — Members who commit to paying an annual fee, set each year by the General Assembly
  • Honorary members — Honorary title, no dues required

Resources

The association's resources comprise:

  • Entry fees and membership dues
  • Subsidies from the State, regional departments and municipalities
  • Any resources authorized by law (donations, services related to its purpose, etc.)
